Part 3 of 3: Preventing Attacks

1. Eliminate sources of moisture. Humidity is a major factor in the Carpenter  ants attack. Often, small pieces of wood will be vulnerable to attack after exposure to water vapor. By improving or closing the water leaks into the house, you can make the wood ant is much harder for nesting. Here are some suggestions to eliminate moisture that contributes to the wood ants attack
a. Check around the window if there are no proper window coverings
b. Check for leaks in the roof and the wall facing the outside
c. Make sure basements, attics, and crawl spaces well ventilated
d. Look for and fix leaky pipes
e. Clean clogged gutters to remove water run off

2. Close the point of entry, cracks and crevices. If the Carpenter  ants  can not get in and out of the house, each satellite colonies in the room which is fed by a larger outer colonies will be isolated and die. Check for cracks, holes, and other small spaces on the outside of the house that allows ants pass - give special attention to areas of the exterior wall closest to the ground or foundation. Cover any holes you find with filler or putty thick.
Check also point around water and power lines into the house, because this point extra vulnerable to attack by ants.

3. Get rid of the wood material near your home. Carpenter  ants  like to make nests in wood, both inside and outside the building, because it is looking for and eliminate the stricken timber can prevent the ants to get into the house. Check carefully every source timber near the house - if there is attacked, remove or dispose of timber resources carefully. You are looking for a place to include: [8]

c. Old trees, especially if the branches touching the house.

4. Install the artificial barrier. If the Carpenter  ants  problem keeps recurring, you must install a small pebbles or rocks around the house. Zone "barrier" is enough to deter and prevent the Carpenter  ants  to enter the house through a hole near the foundation. Consult with the contractor to discuss the practicality and the ability of such a project in your home, or, if you are very well trained, Handle yourself home repairs.
