Part 3 of 3: Preventing Attacks
1. Eliminate sources of moisture. Humidity is a major factor
in the Carpenter ants attack. Often,
small pieces of wood will be vulnerable to attack after exposure to water
vapor. By improving or closing the water leaks into the house, you can make the
wood ant is much harder for nesting. Here are some suggestions to eliminate
moisture that contributes to the wood ants attack
a. Check around the window if there are no proper window
coverings
b. Check for leaks in the roof and the wall facing the outside
c. Make sure basements, attics, and crawl spaces well
ventilated
d. Look for and fix leaky pipes
e. Clean clogged gutters to remove water run off
2. Close the point of entry, cracks and crevices. If the Carpenter
ants can not get in and out of the house, each
satellite colonies in the room which is fed by a larger outer colonies will be
isolated and die. Check for cracks, holes, and other small spaces on the
outside of the house that allows ants pass - give special attention to areas of
the exterior wall closest to the ground or foundation. Cover any holes you find
with filler or putty thick.
Check also point around water and power lines into the
house, because this point extra vulnerable to attack by ants.
3. Get rid of the wood material near your home. Carpenter ants like
to make nests in wood, both inside and outside the building, because it is
looking for and eliminate the stricken timber can prevent the ants to get into
the house. Check carefully every source timber near the house - if there is
attacked, remove or dispose of timber resources carefully. You are looking for
a place to include: [8]
a. stump
b. Pyre
c. Old trees, especially if the branches touching the house.
d. Piles of garbage pages
4. Install the artificial barrier. If the Carpenter ants problem
keeps recurring, you must install a small pebbles or rocks around the house.
Zone "barrier" is enough to deter and prevent the Carpenter ants to
enter the house through a hole near the foundation. Consult with the contractor
to discuss the practicality and the ability of such a project in your home, or,
if you are very well trained, Handle yourself home repairs.
